 Recently, around The Wellness Community, we’ve been talking a lot about A Culture of Giving Back. After all, the concept of Community is just that—people sharing common interests and acting in a manner that helps all other members of the community. Staff, participants, and volunteers have been examining their joint and their individual relationships with one another.
As we respond to the challenging economic times, these explorations help us identify the importance we place upon ensuring the highest quality services continue to be available for people whose lives are impacted by cancer. And from the discussions, priorities have been developed to guide decisions on reducing budgets, merging programs and implementing cutbacks in staffing. And, now we’d like to share the thought of helping strengthen A Culture of Giving Back with you, our friends and supporters whose generosity makes this marvelous organization possible.
There aren’t many organizations that are 100% reliant upon public giving, but The Wellness Community is!
For more than 18 years you’ve been sending checks, donating gifts-in-kind and giving your time and expertise. In this way you have always helped us ensure that when a person in the San Gabriel or San Fernando Valley is diagnosed with cancer, The Wellness Community has a place in a weekly support group available, has several educational workshops each month to provide important information about the disease, and has ongoing relaxation/gentle exercise classes to help participants strengthen their bodies and learn how to tap into their inner strength.
We need your help now, more than ever. If you’re in the Pasadena area, please stop by and say hello. We welcome friends to come in and say “I’d like to see how my support is helping people affected by cancer.” Staff is eager to show you through the Community—it will warm your heart to see that you are part of an important Culture of Giving Back at The Wellness Community. A gift of any amount can make a difference—your generosity is very important to us. Volunteers are needed to tend TWC-F's garden located at the Pasadena facility.
